Mt. Charleston Nevada (Playing in the snow)

The other day we went up to a mountain here called Mt. Charleston. We were only about 45 min northwest of Las Vegas. Mama, Papa and I took the truck and met Papa’s good friends Enrique, his wife Patty, and some of their kids.

There was snow everywhere! Just when I was ready for a good time Mama and Papa grabbed and put me in this thing they always put me in when it is cold. I am not a fan.

Maybe it will fall off if I shake?

Maybe it will fall off if I shake?

This time was different though. They had something new up theirs sleeves and grabbed me again! This time they put things over my feet!

What this time?

What this time?

You can not be serious!?

You can not be serious!?

I spent a while standing and looking at my humans until they insisted I walk in these things. So I gave it a shot. All was not bad though. I figured out how to get them off.

After I realized they were just going to keep putting them back on me and tighter each time I gave up when I saw a large hill with kids on it! I love kids!

KIDS!

KIDS!

These kids were crazy! They were climbing this big hill and sitting down on garbage can lids and sliding down the hill. At one point Papa joined in the lunacy and did it too!

I forgot I was even wearing the boots and chased after him with all my might!

During the excitement my boots were thrown from my front feet and I was almost free of these things. I saw my chance and exploited it. I thought up a plan and gave them the best look I could muster.

Why do you do this to me? Please let me not wear them anymore.

Why do you do this to me? Please don’t make me wear them.

It worked flawlessly and they took the other two off. Now it was time for phase two of my plan.

Get this coat off of me…

There must be a something holding this on.

Maybe I can bite it off!

Maybe I can bite it off!

After trying for some time I finally gave up and accepted the coat. We had a great day and made a lot of new friends. I ran and ran. This snow is more difficult to run on just like the sand on the beach.

When I felt it was time to head back to the Magic House and was ready for a good long nap I let the humans know they could take me home.

In the past month we have been so many different places. I can’t wait to see where our next adventures take us. Bye for now.

Can't talk, sleeping...

Can’t talk, sleeping…

Horseman’s and Dog Fancier’s Park Las Vegas Nevada

Over the last few days the three of us at Guillermo’s Travels have been going to this place where there are so many dogs it is hard to decide who to play with.

This is the other side! This place is huge!

Here is just one side! This place is huge!

People and dogs are everywhere. We dogs can run and play without having to stay right next to our humans.

Run with me!

Run with me!

This by far the biggest place of its kind that I have ever seen!

It is called Horsemans and Dog Fanciers Park! There are huge areas to run and play while the humans socialize and laugh at us.

What's going on?

What’s going on?

For some reason they never sniff each others butts though, so they can’t be getting to know each other very well, I don’t get it.

Silly humans, how do they know who is who?

On the first day there must of been seven Bull Terriers, some Shepherds, one Rottweiler and all kinds of mixed breads that didn’t seem to know their backgrounds too well.

I thought she was pretty but was too shy. What if she doesn't like little guys?

I thought that she was pretty but was too shy to say hello; what if she doesn’t like little guys?

Many of them were rescued by their humans. They all were so happy and friendly and we all played for what seemed like hours!

There were two very large dogs there. They were Mastiffs like myself.

The smaller of the two was Bo and he is what is called a Bordeaux Mastiff, from France.

Hello.

Hello.

I'm Bo.

I’m Bo.

The other was Doobie, he was my favorite!

Doobie is a seven month old Mastiff. He is just a pup.

So I decided I would whip him into shape.

Your not that big!

You’re not that big!

Doobie and I became friends instantly and started wrestling and playing. I tried will all my might but just could not knock him over. I even tried getting a running start to side swipe him by jumping and smashing into his shoulder with my shoulder but he did not seem phased by it at all!

He didn't even notice it! These puppies these days!

He didn’t even notice it! These puppies these days!

Papa looked like he was going to fall over laughing. I was able to enlist the help of my of new Bull Terrier friend to get Doobie on the ground but that backfired and I got kicked in the face! So much surface area! This child is HUGE!

What do you got? You got nothin'!

What do you got? You got nothin’!

You can sure work up a humungous thirst here so they provide large vats of water. Seems to me they should be shorter… That half milk jug just won’t cut it when you have a big thirst.

I can't believe I drank the whole thing.

I can’t believe I drank the whole thing.

Once I decided I was finished playing and my thirst was sufficiently quenched I gave Mama and Papa the OK to take me home. I love having people to do things for me. So now we are home in the Magic House and I’m going to sleep.

Talk to you all next time on Guillermo’s Travels. I wonder when the Magic House is going to change what is on the outside again? Maybe it is broken…

We will have to see

We will have to see..

I Miss My Friend (Farewell Jarred)

Today was one of the first days in my travels where I woke up and thought the scent I was giving off was perfect! As I was sitting there itching my ears Papa picked me up and put me in the room where the indoor waterfall happens; not my favorite place but I always get good rubbins after.

Can I come out yet?

Can I come out yet?

Papa seems to enjoy putting me through this... Humiliating...

Papa seems to enjoy putting me through this… Humiliating…

They put this stuff in my ears that they say “cleans” them. What does that even mean cleans? You mean when you take all the smells away I’ve been working on for what seems to me like forever? I use my smell to introduce myself to other dogs and let them know that I, Guillermo, was there. Either way as soon as my humans are done bathing me, I go to work trying to get my scent back from all the places I’ve stored it around the Magic House.

Ahhhh...

Ahhhh…

Yeah get in there.

Yeah get in there.

I’m not sure I how I feel about this “bath” it seems silly and I usually just go to my happy place while in there. Today my happy place was different and I thought of the good times we all had when we started this adventure. There were five of us who started this trip and now we are down to four. Mama’s brother Jarred was with us and we seem to have lost him. For some reason though Mama and Papa don’t seem too worried. I looked for him for days but he never turned up. I can still smell him. I miss him…

Our trip to Pismo Beach, California was a great time and I was able to get out of the truck and get to know my surroundings (I feel better about myself when I get to know areas, it makes me feel more confident to know where I am).

Can I come out?

Can I come out?

Where should we go Gary?

Where should we go Gary?

Jarred calls me Gary. I decided it was time to start doing some investigating around the area while my humans followed.

Something was here. It went that way!

Something was here. It went that way!

Eventually I led the way and found a beautiful area and a big flight of stairs down to the sand.

I have to get down there!

I have to get down there!

Come on Mama! This way!

Come on Mama! This way!

Jarred somehow beat me down there and I was happy to get to him and play on the beach. We searched around together.

How did you beat me down here?

How did you beat me down here?

He got a little crazy and got very close to the water I tried to warn him and even ran back to tell Mama and Papa but no one listened.

Hey! Don't you know this water tries to attack you? We have to get back.

Hey! Don’t you know this water tries to attack you? We have to get back!

I'm worried Jarred is being crazy! I'll go check on him again.

I’m worried Jarred is being crazy! I’ll go check on him again.

After I was finally able to get him away from the water we found a big rock that was all different shades of grey (I’m color blind you see) that looked like a dragon head to the humans.

This mighty dragon seems to be sleeping.

This mighty dragon seems to be sleeping.

Jarred began tempting fate and all I could do was watch while he climbed up the beast. It was very exciting!

He jumped on its back!

He jumped on its back!

I think is starting to stir you have to get down!

I think is starting to stir you have to get down!

I think it moved get out of here!

I think it moved, get out of here!

False alarm,  Jarred is OK but we were both very startled!

Did you see that Papa!

Did you see that dragon Papa?!

After all the excitement we’d all worked up an appetite and left the Dragon beach to head over to the Splash Cafe for their world famous clam chowder. They didn’t give me any but it smelled amazing in the sourdough bread bowl and they seemed very happy while eating it and ignoring me.

Fair well water. We will do battle again one day.

Fair well water. We will do battle again, one day…

With full bellies and far less energy it was time to move on from Pismo Beach.

So here I am sitting in the Magic House “clean.” I was given a new ball and I am very tired now. Stay tuned. Where will Guillermo’s Travels lead us? Only the Magic House knows.

Time for Sleep...

Time for Sleep…

I Am Guillermo!

Hello! My name is Guillermo and the humans told me I’m a French Bulldog

I’m not entirely sure what that means or why because my dog mom told me my ancestors are from Nottingham England.

I was born with my two little brothers in Newberg, Oregon even though my family is from Estacada, Oregon.

I was apparently so big that I took one whole side of my mother’s uterus and my brothers where on the other side. I got stuck and we had to get to the Vet to make sure we were born correctly.

Luckily we were and mom is doing well.

I AM GUILLERMO

I AM GUILLERMO

I have two humans and a cat to look after.

The two humans are Jessica and Aaron and they took me away from my dog mom when I was four months old, so I’m told. I don’t have the best memory.

The cat Kitty seems very interesting and I constantly try to play with her and keep her under control for Papa but she won’t give me the time of day….

Ever…

What?

What?

We are always going places in the truck and we will sleep in our tent on the roof of the truck.

A few months back they brought me into this long home that somehow manages to change what is on the outside, it is magic to me.

Many yawns have been spent trying to figure it out but it continues to elude me.

Outside the Magic House. Papa seems to be getting ready to turn on the magic again so say goodbye to this park

Outside the Magic House. Papa seems to be getting ready to turn on the magic again so say goodbye to this park!

Our first stop was at a place called a Casino on the Oregon Coast but I was not allowed into the big brightly lit building so I stayed in the Magic House.

We recently found ourselves on a loose floor I’m told is called “sand” and there is a big bunch of water that seems alive and keeps trying to touch me.

It is far larger and more aggressive than the waters we have always gone to in the forest on the mountain.

When you see it coming, you better run!

We spent one night there and walked around. They took the thing off my neck and I ran on the beach. Those humans can never keep up!

Ha!

As the outside changed we saw huge red trees like none I’ve ever seen. It is said they are so big that they have there own ecosystems at the top of them.

Creatures live there you would never find anywhere else!

These trees get so big that there are holes cut out of some and the truck would fit in them like a cave!

Then we drove through a city full of huge buildings and bright lights.

We first had to drive over this huge structure that seemed to be hanging from the sky. It was more than I could comprehend….

Approaching the Golden Gate Bridge.

Approaching the Golden Gate Bridge.

Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

After a few days just sitting in the truck with Mama, outside became a very different beach.

Apparently now we were in a place called Pismo Beach, California where they have the best clam chowder on the Pacific Coast!

Congratulations! It was a beautiful day and the sun was like I haven’t felt in forever (being from Oregon and all).

There were all kinds of smells and rocks to play with. I found a salty green rope and started throwing it around; it was great!

Me throwing the rope thing I found

Something in there?

Something in there?

I smell something here.

I smell something here.

Ha ha you can't get me!

Ha ha you can’t get me!

Oh no! Not going to make it! TURN! TURN! TURN!

Oh no! Not going to make it! TURN! TURN! TURN!

So here we are in a place called Las Vegas where Papa used to live. We went to visit Papa’s old friend Skip.

Here we are.

Here we are.

It sounds like we will stay in this place for awhile and when the time comes we will continue to new places. I wonder where this Magic House will stop next?
